Can a laser welding machine perform filler wire welding? Of course, when it comes to using a laser welding machine, most people may think of welding between large objects.
However, there is also a wide range of filament welding. The beam energy density of laser welding is extremely high. Compared with other welding methods, laser welding has the advantages of small input line energy, fast welding speed, large aspect ratio and welding deformation. Small and other advantages. However, laser welding has strict requirements on the joint gap, and the maximum amount of gap allowed by self-quenching welding does not exceed 10% of the thickness. Although the assembly room of the workpiece to be welded can only meet the requirements through mechanical processing, it increases the cost and is not conducive to the popularization and application of laser welding in industrial production. In order to broaden the application range of laser welding and improve the performance of joints, many laser manufacturers have carried out research and development of laser wire filling welding equipment. Here we, HanTen Laser, use our laser welding machine to talk about the main characteristics of laser welding wire.
When the laser welding machine welds the wire, when the filler wire is used for welding, the laser beam first acts on the welding wire, and the welding wire is heated and melted by the laser beam to fill the joints. With continued action, the base metal melts and small holes are formed. The metal around the hole can absorb almost all the incoming laser energy. When the workpiece moves, the small hole moves, and the original hole is closed to form a weld. If the welding wire fails to reach the intersection between the optical axis and the center of the weld, most of the energy of the laser beam will be transported through the middle due to the large gap between the seams, and only a small part of the energy will be absorbed by the sidewall of the weld. Small holes cannot be formed during the process, and the weldment cannot be welded.
When the laser welding machine fills the wire for welding, the reflectivity also changes with the focal length of the tight-focus lens. When the wire feeding speed is constant, as the focal length increases, the reflection increases accordingly. This is because as the focal length increases, the diameter of the focused laser beam increases, and the energy density of the laser decreases, so the temperature of the welding wire decreases, and the absorption rate of the laser light by the welding wire decreases.
Therefore, in order to make full use of the laser energy in the welding process, the laser power should be increased as much as possible, the short focal length lens should be used, and the wire feeding speed should be reduced as much as possible under the conditions of forming, so that the laser welding wire can be well used for filling welding. best results.
