2. Laser welding of aluminum alloy does not require welding wire. Most aluminum alloys cannot be welded. Laser welding is also difficult. High thermal conductivity and reflectivity make it difficult to generate and maintain aluminum alloy molten pools. Therefore, a higher power density than other materials is required to maintain the weld puddle and perform laser welding. For example, use a high power of about 10KW or higher. The laser beam and gas protection system successfully welded 5000 series aluminum-magnesium alloys, which have excellent seawater corrosion resistance. The state of the material also has an effect on laser welding. For example, laser welding of heat-treated aluminum alloys is more difficult than non-heat-treated alloys. Sometimes in order to change the chemical composition of the weld and prevent welding defects, it is necessary to add filler metal, just like conventional welding.


3. Laser welding of nickel alloys. The laser can be well coupled with the nickel alloy, which makes it easier to perform laser welding and obtain high-quality joints.


4. Laser welding of titanium alloy, laser is very suitable for this alloy, and can obtain high quality and good plasticity welded joints. However, these materials have high oxidation sensitivity and must be welded in an inert atmosphere. High speed can be achieved when welding 1mm alloy plate with laser power above 3KW, the joint is dense, without cracks, pores and inclusions, and the joint performance is good. Comparable with basic materials.
